Remembering Elizabeth Taylor

27 Mar

Wednesday I got the sad news that Elizabeth Taylor died.  I was very sad and even had to cry for awhile.  I have finally come to my senses that she is happy now, she’s with her family and friends now up in heaven.  Elizabeth whom I call “Lizzie” was like a friend of mine.

She was my favorite actress and was the most beautiful.  To say I have a favorite film of hers is hard, but I think it is Giant. I like Giant because she plays a superb ranchers wife in racially hard times.  I really can see the chemistry in the movie between her and Rock Hudson.  My 2nd favorite performance from her would probably be Cat on A Hot Tin Roof. She plays Maggie the Cat so well I couldn’t see anyone else play the part. I think she should have won an award for “Cat on a Hot Tin Roof”.  In “Who’s Afraid of Virgina Woolf” she plays a wonderful part, that really went out of her comfort zone.  Now I know why she won that award.

She has a very sultry look to her.  When I watch Cleopatra or any of her other movies for that fact, she dares you to look away, but it’s impossible.  She put so much work into her movies that you don’t really feel as if she is acting.  She graces around the room like an angel.  I totally believe she should have won more than 2 awards.

What I most respect her for is her compassion for always being there for her children.  There are so many pictures of her with her children.  A lot of people say well “how can she be out with so many guys that she takes care of her children.”  I don’t know, but what from I can tell is that she LOVES her children.  I also love her for her AIDS humanitarian work.  She never gave up without a fight.  She had the courage to stand up for, what some people couldn’t talk about.

About a month ago I started a book called “Elizabeth”. It is a very good book and I recommend this book to anybody who is a fan of Elizabeth.  Anyways, back to it, I’m doing a book report on her.  I thought I should do a book report on her since she is my favorite actress and there is a lot to learn about her.   After all I am a huge fan of her and have over 700 pictures on my computer of her.

Here is my favorite quote from her:  “I don’t entirely approve of the things I’ve done, or am, or have been, but I’m me .  God knows I’m me.”  ~Elizabeth Taylor

Elizabeth, you are truly loved and God Bless you!!

RIP Lizzie!

You made the world a more beautiful place.

Winning Flowers

24 Mar

I won the photography contest today!  The subject was flowers.  I thought that the subject was going to be hard since here in town nothing has been in bloom.  But I was in luck because in front of our house we had a dogwood tree that was in bloom.

For the next contest, I picked “architecture”.  I thought it would be a fun topic since this city has very pretty architecture.  I chose 4 photos so there is more choices for the contest.

I hope you enjoy my winning photo, and please let me know what you think of it.

Foto Finish – Love

19 Feb

Foto Finish

Today’s Foto Finish topic is “love”.  I picked this photo because it is a ring to symbolize love.  I also like the red in the rocks and how the light shined off of them.  They were in a candle for my grandparents 40th anniversary. So together, my parents marriage and my grandparents marriage are love!

I also did this photo for my photography class because its assignment was love.  This is the only photo that I had in mind and I’m so glad that it turned out the way it did.  I hope you enjoy this photo as much as I do!

Construction Contest

4 Nov

The new contest for photography class is “construction”.  It is actually a very good topic because our city is doing a lot of road construction right now.  It seems like every where you go it says “merge left” or “merge right.  So, I hope you like my pictures that I submitted for the contest!!

Macro Monday: Bee in Flower

16 Aug

Here is a picture I took on vacation.  I thought this was a beautiful picture.  I like this picture because the bumblebee continues to work and doesn’t fly away when a stranger walks up.  The bee is just covered in pollen and doing his job.  When he was done he rested on the flower then went onto another flower.  It was the most spectacular thing I’ve ever seen.  If he already went into a flower once he would walk into the flower a little bit then come right back as if he knew he had already had been in there. I hope you enjoy this picture as much as I do!!

Texture Contest – I Won!

12 Apr

What is texture?  Texture is something you can feel and see.

I won another Photography Contest!  My picture was the Chili Peppers.

My dad brought home the peppers one day and said he would eat them.  He never did so they dried out for a couple of weeks.  Then when the subject came up for texture I looked for things to take pictures of.  Our teacher told  us not use brick or grass, but be creative.  So I went out to the kitchen and found the peppers.  When I grabbed the peppers I just grabbed a piece of paper no knowing there was words on the back of the paper.  I took the pictures and copied them on my computer.  I wondered what was on the back of the paper and they were words!  So I had to go grab another piece of paper with NO words on it and retook my pictures.  You may be wondering how I made them display, but I just picked them up and dropped them so they looked distinct.

Chili Peppers

I Won!

25 Feb

Today I won the Photography Contest!  This was really fun for me because it was interesting.  The topic was Elements.  There were some really good photos.  My gift was either a purse or a memory card for my camera.  I chose the purse, because you can put a picture in on both sides.  I really worked hard for this one.  The background behind the rock was a pillow.  I really liked the effect behind the rock there was just something about the effect.  When I first took the picture and I saw the effect I didn’t like it, but once i saw it on the computer I really liked it.  I got the rock at my grandparents house.  I found it when I was walking down their driveway.
