Armor of God

Tonight’s lesson was all about bringing the Armor of God to my students.  I wanted to show them in a fun way that there are things that they possess to protect them from evil.

I created a couple printable to use with my class, then I made a couple extra things in hopes that others would be able to us them.  First, there’s a set of memory match cards.  The armor is matched to its virtue.  There are also two worksheets.  One of them is “Label the Armor of God” and the other is “Armor of God Cut & Paste” where the armor is cut and glued next to the virtue.

Finally, it’s the big one!!  I called it “Roll the Armor of God”, but it has so many other uses.  It can be used to roll a die and place the Armor of God on the soldier.  This can also be used for a felt story set, which is basically how I used it with my kiddos.  I read the Bible verse to them and they dressed their doll in the armor as I read the verse.  It could also be used as a simple paper craft to do with the kids.  There’s 2 versions of this all in one download!!  There is a boy and girl soldier doll, as well as a black & white version or color version.  Then for the “Roll the Armor of God”, there’s just the virtue listed or the piece of armor with the virtue to use depending on the age of your kids.

On a side note, these activities are based on the Catholic version (NAS) of the Bible.  The only part that I didn’t use was the wording for “having girded your loins in truth”.  I chose to use “belt” instead as it’s easier for my little ones to understand.  I did choose to use “shod your feet”, as they grasped that it was shoes/boots and I didn’t want to use “sandals” as many do and hubby drew me great armor boots.

Sequence & Pray – Our Father

Thanks to a blogger, Holly, using my Sequence & Pray – Hail Mary cards and mat set, they’ve become very popular.  That’s also sparked people to ask for a set for Our Father.  So thanks, Three Sided Wheel , I appreciate your interest in my Hail Mary set and that you blogged about it.

This is a set for Sequence & Pray – Our Father.  The cards can be used for concentration/memory (if 2 sets of cards are printed) or they can be sequenced on the mat with the words to the prayer on each card.  They also could be used to just recite the prayer or a number of other things.  These all must be printed on legal size paper!!  That is, 8 1/2″ by 14″ size paper.

Spring Time

I thought that since spring is in the air, I’d share a nice spring printable with you.  This stems from an idea that literally just really hit me one day.  I made a couple notes and as soon as I had time, I went to work on it.  Because I knew what I wanted to do, it didn’t take long at all.  That really surprised hubby how quick I could work through one that I knew exactly what I wanted.

Anyway, this is a file folder game to help learn time.  Players move around the game board by identifying the digital time, and then correctly setting that time on the analog clock.  The clock is a cute smiling spring flower!!  There are also “watering can” cards that can help….or hinder movement around the game board.

Just a few directions before you download it!!  First, the game board would be mounted inside a file folder and laminated.  The flower clock would be printed on card stock and laminated to help it last longer, as well as the hands of the clock.  Mount the hands with a brad and the hands will move perfectly!!  There are optional card backs for the “watering can” cards to identify them, but none for the time cards.  The cards are different sizes though!!

A (Belated) Present for my Readers

I apologize that this is coming the day 2 days after Christmas.  I was working hard on it, but I just didn’t get it completed or uploaded.  However, I do have a present for you, my readers!!  This is only for you and hasn’t been shared any place else.  Don’t you feel special now??  HAHA  This is Nativity UNO and it is played just like regular UNO.  This one just has the most adorable nativity characters set on the cards instead of the boring ole colors!!  It’s still the holiday season, so there’s still plenty of time to play with this set of cards.  Besides, there’s never a time when we can’t play a good Christian based game!!  You can download your Nativity UNO cards here and they even come with a storage box!!

Half Dozen Christian Games

Today, I’m offering a half dozen religious games.  I don’t think any of these have previously been shared on my blog because I’ve just uploaded them all to my 4Shared account.  I hope that you find something that you need and can use!!

1.  Peter is Freed is for all ages.  Players collect 4 pieces of the angel puzzle as they answer questions about Peter.

2.  The Early Years from the Life of Jesus can be adapted for any age.  This is strictly about Jesus’ younger years before he started spreading the word.

3.  John the Baptist on the Jordan River Renewed the Crowds comes in a game board for 2 age groups.  The older kids version has the players answering questions about John the Baptist.  The younger kids version is played like Candy Land.

4.  Jesus Calms the Storm is a game where players collect tokens to win while answering questions about this miracle.  Can be adapted for any age.

5.  Down Through the Roof is a game about this miracle performed by Jesus and can be adapted.

6.  Jesus Loves All the Little Children should be printed on legal size paper.  Players move around the board with a beautiful scene of Jesus and the children and collect heart tokens.

As a bonus, I’ve also uploaded a game created by my daughter, Miss K.  This game is perfect for Christmas, as it’s called Oh Holy Night and has a beautiful picture of Mary and baby Jesus.  Players move around the board and collect, or lose, pieces of the nativity scene.  The fist player to complete the nativity is the winner!!

Again, I hope that there’s something in that list that you all can use.  I got my start in Christian games and I still love it.  It’s just so hard for me to come up with new ideas.  Not to mention, clipart and graphics for religious games are hard to come by….and not cost a fortune!!  If you have a special request for a game, just leave a comment and I’ll see what I can do.

Who’s Who in the Bible

I’ve created a new game and I’m so excited about it that I can’t wait to share it with you all!!  This is a Christian game based on people from the Bible.  Players move around the board by rolling a die.  If they land on a “who’s who” space, an opponent draws a card and reads the clue aloud about a person from the Bible.  If the player correctly identifies the character, they roll and move again.  If they’re incorrect, they do nothing.  The file folder game is ” Who’s Who in the Bible” and can be downloaded from my 4Shared.

The game is complete, including the die and player tokens.  I even made a full set of “who’s who” cards to get you started.  There’s also a few blank cards for you to add clues of your own for people in the Bible.  There’s also optional card backs for the “who’s who” cards.  This game could be adapted to any age group.

Fun Way to Enforce Behavior

Quite some time ago, I made a behavior game called Behavior Slides and Ladders.  There was recently a need for this game again, but I wasn’t happy with the appearance of my original game.  It’s something that I’d made very early in my creative days!!

Anyway, I’ve since re-worked it and am ready to share it again.  There’s really not much difference, except all the clipart and graphics look better.  I also changed the slide.  I like the looks of the new slide so much more!!  You can find the “new” Behavior Slides and Ladders here.  This game is played pretty much just like the old original Chutes and Ladders that most of us grew up playing.  This version just deals with actions and behavior.

I hope that you’ll be able to use this game as a re-enforcement to behavior actions.  It can make it so much for fun than just saying “this is right” or “that is wrong”!!  I also plan on making a version of this game for “how to get to Heaven”.  So, come back often for when I get that posted!!

Updating the Files

I’ved added a few new things to my 4Shared account again.  I’m only going to list the items that I’ve added to the files here.  You can find the link either on the “Christian Printables & File Folder Games” or the “Homeschool Printables & Educational File Folder Games” pages.  The links to those 2 pages are in the right hand column under “pages”.

First up is the All About Sports book.  Kids will find the even that matches the page in the book.  Then, they will add images of equipment from each of the sports.  Download every page of this book, or you won’t be able to complete the project!!

I also added a Christian ffg for younger students.  The Tower of Babel has two version.  One is a simple make your way to the top of the tower and answer questions.  The other version has a few challenges along the way.  It even includes the question cards!!

Also, The Bee-Atitudes has been updated.  It was already in the files, but it was a low grade PDF version.  I’ve converted it to JPG from the original document and it’s much higher quality, so it’ll look better when printed out.

Finally, I’ve started a new Y!Group.  This group will focus on educational themes that will last either a week or month.  These themes will be topics studied in most educational fields.  We’ll share all sorts of printables, not just items created by me.  There will be worksheets, file folder games, mini-books, crafts, and more.  If you have kids, are a teacher, homeschooler, childcare provider or any other field working with kids, this group is for you!!  Please come join me at the Printable Place of Themes  and be prepared to share and receive fantastic printables!!

Major Updates

I’m going to be spending quite a bit of time over the next few days updating my 4Shared account and adding links to the printables pages of the blog.  I converted many of the files quite awhile ago, but one thing always leads to another and I postpone it or forget.  So, I’m dedicating some time to getting that all caught up.

Little by little, I’ll upload files to my 4Shared account and then add links to the printables page that they belong on.  Some will be my Christian ffg and others will be educational games.  My main focus has always been the Christian games and I feel that I’m really lagging in that, so that’s going to be my priority to update first.  I’m not sure if I’ll do all the uploading first and then add links, or if I’ll upload and then add the link right away.  Something tells me it’ll be easier to upload first and then go through all the links!!

Some new ffg’s have already been uploaded, but I haven’t added the links yet.  I just got started on it tonight.  I figured that I needed a place to start and it might as well be there!!  So, please check the “Christian Printables & File Folder Games” and the “Homeschool Printables & Educational File Folder Games” pages for updates.  You can find the link to click to access them in the right column under “pages”.  I’ll be working on them all weekend, so check back often or just come back at the end of the weekend and be prepared for a surprise with all the files!!

Games to Share

The past couple days have just been our norm around here and I haven’t had much to say.  Instead of leaving the blog empty, I’d rather share some of my creations with you.

I can’t ask enough though, if you’re going to download my games, PLEASE take EVERY page of the game.  You can’t play the game the way it was meant to be used if you’re only taking bits and pieces of it.  I understand you might want to play it your way, but you should try it my way as well.  After all, I am the one who created it!!  With that said, my shares for tonight are….

First up is Time for Frog School, which is a flipbook to teach children about time using cute frog student and teacher graphics.  I eliminated :15, :30, :00, and :45 because there’s so much available for that and the kids pick that up quick anyway.

Next is a shadow match ffg for little ones called Land Animals – Sea Animals Shadow Match.  Players match a shadow to the animal on the game board.

I also have a Christian file folder game (ffg) to share based on the Bible story for Noah’s Ark.  This game is Two by Two and is great for any age.  It can be played simple for little ones or harder for older players.  If you want to play a 2-player game, you’ll need to print off 2 copies of the the game board and cards.  Players move around the game board and collect a card when they land on the animal space of the card that’s face-up.

Finally, I have to game boards/mats for contractions.  These are a 1st to 2nd grade level.  The first one is Fishin’ for Contractions and is contractions made from am, is, and are.  The other one is A “Will” for Deep Sea Contractions in which will is the common factor in all the contractions.  For both of these games/mats, player will find either a contraction or the contraction word and find the matching contraction word or contraction.

I hope that you all can use these games.  I always love to say that I hope the kids have fun playing while they learn!!
