Foto Finish: Gardening

Foto Finish

Today is the day for Foto Finish!! Today’s optional theme is definitely one that I’m fond of.  It’s gardening!!  This is also the last one until July as Barbara is putting this meme on hiatus while she’s away and enjoying summer.

I chose some buds of the flowers that are taking over my flower bed right now.  These are my favorite ones because of the colors.  I have white, pink, magenta, yellow, and a purple.  However, this one is a peach color with a pale yellow center.  I just love them!!

Here’s my “gardening” Foto Finish…..

I hope that you enjoy my Foto Finish!! If you do, please check out this week’s Foto Finish participants for more great photography!!

Foto Finish: Flowers

Foto Finish

YAY!!  I get to participate in Foto Finish again today!!  I was away last weekend and unable to join in the fun.  I’m back though and just in time for this “optional theme”.

This photo was taken just before we “left” for Spring Break last week.  The dogwood tree in front of our house was in bloom.  It didn’t have nearly the flowers that it usually does, but I attribute that to our hot, dry summer last year.  In addition, we had a very warm winter too.

Just click to enlarge the photo to see it full size!!  Here’s my flowers…..

I hope that you enjoy my Foto Finish!! If you do, please check out this week’s Foto Finish participants for more great photography!!

Foto Finish: Growing

Foto Finish
I’m so excited because I’m actually joining in Foto Finish today!!  It’s been forever since I’ve been able to do this.  I’m still not feeling great, but I’m happy for a chance to show off a photo that I’ve taken!!

Today’s optional theme is “growing”.  I figured this was a great one for me to jump on.  It could be interpreted so many ways.  I’m going with plants though….flowers to be specific!!  This is one that I took last year from my flower garden.  It’s one of my favorites with the dark background and the color of the flowers.

I hope that you enjoy my Foto Finish!!  If you do, please check out this week’s Foto Finish participants for more great photography!!

Macro Monday: Flower Center

For my Macro Monday selection today, I picked something from my flower garden again.  This flower by itself is pretty, but the center is very interesting.  I find the different texture amazing!!  I think this picture captures it all pretty well and I was happy with the way it turned out.  I’m very much looking forward to getting more shots of this flower and hoping that more like it bloom!!

Here’s my big yellow flower center for Macro Monday (click to enlarge to see full details)…..

Foto Finish: My Garden

Foto Finish

Today’s Foto Finish is “my garden” for the theme.

There’s plenty of choices for this one, like the entire flower garden.  I don’t have a veggie garden!!  I only have the flower bed in front of my house and the flower garden next to my swing out back.  The one out back was started last fall and is almost in full bloom this spring.  I’ve had so many pretty flowers already.  I planted several kinds though so that I have some late in summer too.  I just hope they can hold up to the OK summer like they say they can!!

So many of my flowers are purple that are in bloom right now.  I’m sure this is a coincidence.  It has to be considering how many I planted!!  This delicate purple flower that I chose is from my flower bed in front of the house.  I just love this thing!!  It’s delicate and pretty….and a beautiful shade of purple.

Macro Monday: Cluster Bud

For my Macro Monday selection today, I picked something from my flower garden.  This is a flower that’s just starting to bloom.  It looks like a cluster and you can see some of them have popped open and some of them are ready to.  At the same time, some of them are still closed up tight!!  I just found this fascinating and had to try to capture it.

Foto Finish: Pink

Foto Finish

The theme for this week’s Foto Finish is pink.  Pink of all things!!  HAHA  That’s definitely not my color.  I almost loathe pink.  I didn’t even dress kiddo in pink all the time when she was little.  Having pink as the theme is a definite challenge for me, but having a challenge is good!!

I looked all over my photos for pink and couldn’t really find anything.  Then I thought back to Spring Break at my parents house last week.  Mom had some pretty little flowers along with her daffodils that were blooming.  There was purple, white, and pink.  Of course, I didn’t take many photos of the pink, but I did of the other colors.  Then I remembered this photo I took as the sun was going down hitting the pink flowers.  I just thought that they looked amazing and that it really showed off the vibrant color of them.

Here’s my ONE shot of those pink flowers.  Here’s my  Foto Finish (click to enlarge)….

Do you have any photos of pink??  I bet you do if you dig deep enough.  Whatever you have, just post your photos and click the button above to join in on Foto Finish!!

Winning Flowers

I won the photography contest today!  The subject was flowers.  I thought that the subject was going to be hard since here in town nothing has been in bloom.  But I was in luck because in front of our house we had a dogwood tree that was in bloom.

For the next contest, I picked “architecture”.  I thought it would be a fun topic since this city has very pretty architecture.  I chose 4 photos so there is more choices for the contest.

I hope you enjoy my winning photo, and please let me know what you think of it.

My Backyard

We were sitting outside about 5pm tonight and the heat was just incredible.  It was still in the high 90′s and not a breath of air moving.  I still wanted to sit in my swing since I finally have a cushion on it again and can enjoy a little time out there.  As I was relaxing and talking to the man about his day, I decided it was the perfect time for a photo shoot.  Right now our grass is a little long because it didn’t get mowed last weekend and this weekend isn’t here yet.  Mind you, it’s not long, it’s just ready for a mow.  Our neighbors on the other hand do have some long grass and weeds.  This is what I decided to make my photo shoot of!!

These are the photos that I took….
