Oh Holy Night Number Strip Puzzles

21 Dec

It’s time for Nativity A Day and the 18th posting of it!!  Yes, that means that there’s only 2 more to go and I’ve still missed 3 of them.  I think I did anyways.  I’ll have to go back and count again because one day I missed, but the next day I did a double.  If I only counted that as 1, then it should actually be 2 and I’ll have only missed 2.  Time to count!!  HAHA

On with the Nativity A Day for today though.  I have a pretty big variety of number strip puzzles.  Some are horizontal and some are vertical.  There’s one for counting 0-12 and one for 1-10.  There’s also 2 for skip counting by 5 and 10 and one each of skip counting by 2 and 3.  I love all the images that I used and I used a variety of fonts.  We all know about my font addiction!!  HAHA

Nativity, What Do You See? Mini-Book

19 Dec

Today is the 16th posting of Nativity A Day and after a couple busy days this weekend of not being able to post it, I’m back on track!!  I’m really proud of this one and so happy with how it turned out.

Today’s Nativity A Day is a mini-book called Nativity, What Do You See? and it’s based on the Brown Bear, Brown Bear concept.  I recommend printing the cover on card stock and the pages on paper.  The pages of can be printed front and back to save on paper, or printed off separately by the sheet.  The cover is slightly larger than the pages, so they should tuck in nicely and then be stapled close to the fold to hold them in.

NOTE:  I just printed the book out and I should have been more specific in the directions.  The back of each page should be printed upside down so that when it’s lifted to be read, it’s facing down and goes into the next page.  I know this doesn’t make much sense because I’m not good at describing, but take my word!!  So, if you print all the top pages, then flip them over upside down and print the backs.  Or, if your printer is like mine and does front/back printing, have it flip in the short edge instead of the long edge.  Hope this helps!!

If you’re interested in downloading the mini-book, please just…..

UPDATE:  Being a mom of 1, I know that printing the other book is quite a bit of extra paper and ink.  So, I created another book, just for ONE!!  It’s identical to the other book, but just one book prints out per page, instead of two.  Be sure to read above about printing front and back so that when the pages are turned up, they can read without having flip the book over.  I have printed this out and it works great!!  You can find the new Nativity, What Do You See? mini-book for one here.

Today is the 15th post in Nativity A Day and it’s for little ones.

Today’s Nativity A Day is pre-writing practice sheets.  There’s 4 pages for different stages.  First off is strait lines and they get thinner with smaller dashes as you go down the page.  Next is some strait lines with a curve and square edge tracing.  The next page is different sizes of curves and the last page is different sizes of square edges.

Nativity Bean Bag Toss

12 Dec

Today is the 12th post in Nativity A Day.  Today’s idea is not my own, but I made it mine….in my way and I hope that you and the kids enjoy it.

Today’s Nativity A Day is Nativity Bean Bag Toss.  One or more players can play by tossing a bean bag at the letters from the nativity in the order that they’re called out.  You can play where it’s required that the letters are played in the correct order to spell “nativity”.  It could be played in the same manner using darts.

Don’t worry that baby Jesus is having bean bags or darts thrown at him!!  I put the letter in the large open door of the stable and then the adorable nativity characters are visible in the open window.  Each letter mat has a different nativity character.

Nativity Bingo

10 Dec

It’s time for the 10th Nativity A Day post.  I can’t believe how many of these I still have left to do!!  I keep wondering if I’m going to make it or if I need to change my strategy and do a few less posts the rest of the time.  I think my biggest fear is that I’m going to do it all now and then never be able to come up with a new idea to ever do with the nativity again!!

Oh well, can’t worry about that!!  Today’s Nativity A Day is Nativity Bingo.  There’s a total of 12 cards, so plenty can play.  If you need more than 12, just print about double the cards and issue 2 prizes for winning.  Every card should have every nativity element on it.  I just mixed up the locations!!  There’s no “free space” since every image plays.  Also, I made calling cards.  They can be used as is and the nativity figure called can just be marked off (laminate and use a dry erase marker), or you can cut them apart and players can draw the nativity figure that will be called next.  So, lots of variety with this game!!

VBS: NYC – Big Apple Adventure

23 Jun

It’s Vacation Bible School time for many!!  Last year, I was asked to create some materials for one of the members of my Christian group.  Her church is using “Big Apple Adventure” by LifeWay.

First off, I created a blank file folder game.  It’s made using the NYC theme, but there’s no designated skill so that each teacher can use it to teach what they need.  I also made a set of concetration/memory cards using Romans 10:17, which is the focus of this VBS.

There’s also a maze with the “Big Apple Adventure” theme, as well as a kriss kross puzzle and cryptogram with that theme based on Romans 10:17.

I also made some decoration materials and some rewards materials.  There’s a set of NYC banners.  For the kids is some small bookmarks and doorknob hangers.  Also, there’s name tags and desk place tags.

It seems to me that there’s more, but I just can’t remember right now.  That’s ok, it’ll be a surprise when you go to download all these materials!!  I hope that you find something that you can use for your VBS, homeschool, religion class, or whatever you might need them for.

Here’s a collage of just some of the items available for this VBS….

If you’re interested in these printables, please just…..

If you use these materials for your VBS, religious education, or at home, please leave a comment and let me know how you and the kids like it.  I’d also appreciate it if you’d click one or both of the buttons below (as well as in the side bar under “rate my blog”.

Stations of the Cross

19 Apr

For many of us, we often focus on the Stations of the Cross during Lent.  I think it’s fairly hard to find materials that can be used for adults to meditate these, much less children.  I decided I was going to remedy that!!  I’ve created several printables to help with learning, as well as meditation for The Way of the Cross.  There’s a couple games and there’s some materials to take to church as you visit each station.

First is some 3-piece egg shape puzzles for each Station of the Cross.  I think these would be perfect in Resurrection Eggs or just as a learning tool.  There are 2 sets….one has the number of the Station and the other doesn’t.  Next is a set of Way of the Cross cards.  These can be used as memory match or for a number of other things.  These also come in 2 sets….one with the number of the Station and one without.  Both of these items also have a storage box for the puzzle pieces or the cards.

For learning materials or meditation, I made a set of cards….or they can be made into a book.  This is a spiritual devotion for Stations of the Cross.  They can be printed front and back for ease of use.  If they’re cut apart, they’re slightly smaller than half-page.  Finally, I’ve made an accordion book for the Way of the Cross.  This requires a little bit of  “work” to assemble, but I love how it turned out.  Once the pages are printed out, the pages are glued or taped together to overlap.  The pages are then folded in half along the dotted line and folded into the accordion book.  For each Station, there is a devotional.  I’m also working on another accordion book that will just have the Stations, without the devotionals.  This is more for children to learn what the stations are and give them a basis for it all.

All of these have different Stations images.  I was able to find many great images online and used a variety when creating these.  I think they’re all beautiful and I want to create until I’ve made something with all the beautiful images that I found because what Jesus gave for us deserves the best!!

Here’s a collage of just a single page from each item….

P.S.  Don’t forget to check back to this post for at least ONE more addition to these Stations of the Cross printable materials!!

UPDATE:  I found some beautiful pieces of art on the internet and knew that I wanted to use them for a Stations of the Cross activity.  It’s so hard to know what to do with them and have them be highlighted, but still “teach the lesson”.  Anyway, I chose to make an accordion book/cards with them.  There are 2 sets…..1 with words for each Station and 1 without the words (so it’s just the image).  These can be folded and used as an accordion book, or they can be cut apart.  Once apart, they could be used for memory (if 2 copies are printed) or they could be sequenced, or simply held up and used for review.  They could even added to a blank game board for skills/review.  Really, there’s so many options.  If you’re interested in these, just click the button above and they’re in a folder!!  There still might be more to come, depending on my time available to create, so keep a watch!!

Freebie-A-Day: Parting the Sea Syllable Sort

1 Apr

It’s time for a new Freebie-A-Day!!  I’m really happy with this one and I hope that you are too.  This was actually the first one that I made when I was working out what I was going to make and what days they’d be used.  I even had to play this one myself!!  HAHA

For today’s Freebie-A-Day, I’m offering a syllables sorting game.  Moses is holding words that contain 1, 2, 3, or 4 syllables.  The words are to be placed on the mat that has the number of syllables in that word.  I’ve also included an answer key and a worksheet to complete when the game is done.

Once again, my hubby drew all the graphics for this game….just as he did for the entire week!!  I thought this graphic was perfect for this game, and I have to say it again….I think it turned out so good.

Here’s a thumbnail sample of what this game looks like….

If you’re interested in the freebie today, simply….

I can’t believe it’s already Friday!!  That means that unless I can figure out some sort of “bonus”, that this theme and this week’s Freebie-A-Day has come to an end.  I hope that you enjoyed it at much as I did making them.  Please leave a comment or vote to let me know that you’d be interested in me doing this again.  Enjoy!! If you do download them and like them, please leave a comment. I’d also appreciate it if you’d click one (or all) of the buttons below to vote for my blog….thanks!!

Freebie-A-Day: Miriam and Aaron Egyptian Alphabet Match

31 Mar

I have the new Freebie-A-Day is ready to go!!  This is an Egyptian alphabet match, so I want to clarify that I know that Moses helped the people flee from the Pharoah and Egypt.  However, this font made for a great game and 2 people that were instrumental in helping Moses are the perfect characters to use for it.

With that said, today’s freebie is a set of cards and a storage box.  They are matching cards, so they can be played like memory or a similar matching game.  One set of cards has the Egyptian font/symbol (for this particular font) and the other card, has the corresponding letter of the alphabet.  Miriam has the Egyptian font/symbol and Aaron has the letter of the alphabet.  The answer key is on the bottom of the box!!

Here’s a thumbnail sample of what the cards look like….

If you’re interested in the freebie today, simply….

Since this is Freebie-A-Day, tomorrow of course, I’ll feature another Moses printable.  I’m really excited about the one that I’ll be offering tomorrow too!!  Stay tuned to see what’s next!! Enjoy!! If you do download them and like them, please leave a comment. I’d also appreciate it if you’d click one (or all) of the buttons below to vote for my blog….thanks!!
