Sequence & Pray – Our Father

8 Apr

Thanks to a blogger, Holly, using my Sequence & Pray – Hail Mary cards and mat set, they’ve become very popular.  That’s also sparked people to ask for a set for Our Father.  So thanks, Three Sided Wheel , I appreciate your interest in my Hail Mary set and that you blogged about it.

This is a set for Sequence & Pray – Our Father.  The cards can be used for concentration/memory (if 2 sets of cards are printed) or they can be sequenced on the mat with the words to the prayer on each card.  They also could be used to just recite the prayer or a number of other things.  These all must be printed on legal size paper!!  That is, 8 1/2″ by 14″ size paper.

Nativity Bean Bag Toss

12 Dec

Today is the 12th post in Nativity A Day.  Today’s idea is not my own, but I made it mine….in my way and I hope that you and the kids enjoy it.

Today’s Nativity A Day is Nativity Bean Bag Toss.  One or more players can play by tossing a bean bag at the letters from the nativity in the order that they’re called out.  You can play where it’s required that the letters are played in the correct order to spell “nativity”.  It could be played in the same manner using darts.

Don’t worry that baby Jesus is having bean bags or darts thrown at him!!  I put the letter in the large open door of the stable and then the adorable nativity characters are visible in the open window.  Each letter mat has a different nativity character.

Nativity Bingo

10 Dec

It’s time for the 10th Nativity A Day post.  I can’t believe how many of these I still have left to do!!  I keep wondering if I’m going to make it or if I need to change my strategy and do a few less posts the rest of the time.  I think my biggest fear is that I’m going to do it all now and then never be able to come up with a new idea to ever do with the nativity again!!

Oh well, can’t worry about that!!  Today’s Nativity A Day is Nativity Bingo.  There’s a total of 12 cards, so plenty can play.  If you need more than 12, just print about double the cards and issue 2 prizes for winning.  Every card should have every nativity element on it.  I just mixed up the locations!!  There’s no “free space” since every image plays.  Also, I made calling cards.  They can be used as is and the nativity figure called can just be marked off (laminate and use a dry erase marker), or you can cut them apart and players can draw the nativity figure that will be called next.  So, lots of variety with this game!!

The Greatest Gift Tic-Tac-Toe

8 Dec

It’s time for a new Nativity A Day post and I believe that this is the 8th one already.  Are you enjoying them??  I know I am!!  It’s making things a little hectic sometimes to get something new created AND posted, but I did make this a personal challenge.  So far so good!!

Today, I have a simple game that uses beautiful graphics.  The game is tic-tac-toe.  The game board features the greatest gift, baby Jesus in his manger.  The player tokens are Mary and Joseph with baby Jesus and the 3 Wise Men with baby Jesus.  This game should be great to fill in those quiet times for the kids and keep them busy!!

Double the Nativity A Day

5 Dec

Today is a double freebie since I was totally unable to post my Nativity A Day yesterday!!  I do apologize, but I expected at some time, life would step in….and it might not be over yet considering it’s the holiday season and all.

First up is the printable that I would have shared yesterday.  It’s a “Roll the Shepherd’s Nativity”.  The player(s) will roll a die and collect the pieces indicated for that number and assemble the nativity as they go.  This is the shepherd’s nativity or the angels telling the shepherds of the good news.

My second offering, which is today’s Nativity A Day freebie, is “Nativity Word Strip Puzzles”.  The kids will assemble word strip puzzles featuring words associated with the nativity.  There are 10 puzzles in all, but 3 of them are for the 3 Magi/Kings/Wise Men.  That way, you can choose the nativity word puzzle for them depending on what you teach and your faith since they do vary.

Pumpkin Prayer

26 Oct

Halloween can present may problems and issues for many Christians.  Every year, there is the debate on whether to celebrate it or not.  For me, I like to teach my religion class to find the good points to it.  Halloween only needs to be as scary and “demonic” as people want it to be.

Liz Curtis Higgs has a great book called The Pumpkin Patch Parable.  You can read about it by clicking the book cover below.

I used the basis of this book to create the craft that we did in religion class tonight.  The kids all colored in their pumpkin patches and the pattern pieces.  Then, they cut out all the pattern pieces.  As we read the poem together, the kids assembled their pumpkin patches.

Here’s a thumbnail view of what’s included in this craft project…..

My class had so much fun with this!!  This was a fairly simple craft for us to do with restricted time.  They love the coloring (we used markers).  And, they enjoy anything they get to cut and glue!!  They were all showing their parents as they got picked up, so I know it was a success for my little ones.

If you’d like to download this freebie, just….

So, Shine with the light of Jesus and enjoy the project….and Halloween!!  I always appreciate any comments or suggestions that you leave. It helps me to know that what I created is used or what I do is like or not liked. Also, please click the button below to vote for my blog….thanks!!

Sequence & Pray – Hail Mary

21 Oct

I haven’t made anything new for my religion class in quite awhile.  I’ve been using what I have or searching out new things.  However, we’re learning the Hail Mary right now and I wanted something versatile for them.  That prompted me to create this “sequence and pray”.

There are 7 cards with the words to the Hail Mary on them.  If 2 copies of the cards are printed, one could use them to play concentration.  I also created a board to go with where the cards should be placed in sequence order. (Print the board on LEGAL size paper!!)  There’s so many uses for the cards because they could just be used to recite the prayer as well.

Here’s a thumbnail view of what’s included in this “sequence and pray”…..

VBS: NYC – Big Apple Adventure

23 Jun

It’s Vacation Bible School time for many!!  Last year, I was asked to create some materials for one of the members of my Christian group.  Her church is using “Big Apple Adventure” by LifeWay.

First off, I created a blank file folder game.  It’s made using the NYC theme, but there’s no designated skill so that each teacher can use it to teach what they need.  I also made a set of concetration/memory cards using Romans 10:17, which is the focus of this VBS.

There’s also a maze with the “Big Apple Adventure” theme, as well as a kriss kross puzzle and cryptogram with that theme based on Romans 10:17.

I also made some decoration materials and some rewards materials.  There’s a set of NYC banners.  For the kids is some small bookmarks and doorknob hangers.  Also, there’s name tags and desk place tags.

It seems to me that there’s more, but I just can’t remember right now.  That’s ok, it’ll be a surprise when you go to download all these materials!!  I hope that you find something that you can use for your VBS, homeschool, religion class, or whatever you might need them for.

Here’s a collage of just some of the items available for this VBS….

If you’re interested in these printables, please just…..

If you use these materials for your VBS, religious education, or at home, please leave a comment and let me know how you and the kids like it.  I’d also appreciate it if you’d click one or both of the buttons below (as well as in the side bar under “rate my blog”.
