Foto Finish: In a Tree

This week’s Foto Finish is on time!!  WooHoo  So, what did you do for our theme of  ”in a tree”??

I had fun with this one.  I was going to go literal and go for a bird in the tree because I have lots of photos of that.  Instead, I had to go a little different route.  I used a photo that I took earlier this Spring of this pretty butterfly fluttering from blossom to blossom on our dogwood tree.

Foto Finish: On a Shelf

Two weeks in a row and at least I’m consistent with being late for Foto Finish.  I’ve decided that I’m going to have to do my post earlier in the week and schedule it for Saturday’s to post!!

This week’s optional theme is “on a shelf”.  I didn’t have anything for it, so I was running around looking for just the right shot.  I wasn’t happy with what I was taking or what was on my shelves.  I actually ended up going with a simple shot I took with my aim and shoot camera instead of my Nikon.

Foto Finish: Fast or Speed

I’m so frustrated, my first week of Foto Finish and I’m starting it an hour late!! I apologize and I will get the hang of this.

For my “fast or speed” photo for this week’s optional theme, I’m posting one from last week.  It was our annual trip to Texas Motor Speedway.  It was a night race, so my pictures were limited.  I think this one best captures our theme though!!

“Foto Finish” Returns

 

For those of you that haven’t seen that button in quite some time, I’m happy to say that it will be returning in 2 weeks!!  Yes, that’s right, we’ll be holding Foto Finish weekly again.

Barbara who used to host this photo meme was no longer able to do so.  We’ve been missing Foto Finish since December and I do mean we miss it!!  I finally contacted Barbara to ask her if I could host it and she agreed.  I’m so honored because she always did such a good job with it. 

I’m keeping everything pretty much the same way that Barbara had it.  I can’t wait to do this because I know that I need to challenge myself more with my photography.  That’s really the whole purpose that I asked if I could take over hosting this great photo meme.  I can’t wait to come up with our optional themes and push myself to get out there and take some new photos.

Macro: Blossoming

This shot for Macro Monday and I Heart Macro is a new addition to my front flowerbed this year.  I bought it in full bloom, then thought that it died because everything fell off including the leaves.  It must have just gone into shock because it’s come back in full force twice to these beautiful blossoming flowers.  Sometimes they’re all pink and sometimes they’re dual colors.  It’s proven to be an awesome addition to my flower garden!!

Bird Food on a Wire

I have what I consider a pretty interesting photo today!!  We were outside watching the birds around the feeder when this bird on the wire caught our attention.  It swooped down and grabbed this bug and proceeded to take it back up to the wire.  The bug got away a couple times and the bird would swoop again and catch it in the air and get back on the wire to eat his dinner.  It was so fascinating to watch!!

By the way, if anyone knows what kind of bird this is, I’d love to know!!  I know it’s not the easiest shot to be able to tell.  However, it’s gray with a yellow belly….and it obviously eats live bugs.

Macro: Soft Purple

This shot for Macro Monday and I Heart Macro.  I’ve missed doing these memes the past couple weeks.  Life just tends to happen!!  Anyway, this beautiful soft purple wildflower was captured out on the Wildlife Refuge.  There was a field of them and it was a fairly windy day, but when isn’t it in OK!?! ?  I think it’s just one of the prettiest things blowing in the wind!!

World Bird Wednesday: Cardinal on Feeder

I’m just so lost for time!!  It’s already noon and I’m just now posting for World Bird Wednesday. 

A couple weeks ago, we had a stay-cation.  Well, we ended up not-so-much staying.  We actually took a quick trip out to my parents house.  They have such a large variety of birds that feed there all time since they live in the sticks.  I spent as much time as possible watching the feeders, but many of the birds are shy when new people are around.  My parents being on the porch don’t phase them at all.  I did manage to snap off a couple good shots though and can’t wait to share them!!

Skywatch: Clouds Rolling In

So far this week, we’ve had some really hot weather and a chance of bad weather every evening.  I’m happy to say that it’s all passed us by, although we could really use some rain.  Every evening around dinner time, the clouds have been rolling in.  The ones that followed this cloud bank rolling in were full of lightening, but passed right over us.  You can tell by the tops of the trees, the wind really came up too!!
